Overview
An outstanding faculty from MUSC deliver morning hands on experience followed by afternoon lectures. An emphasis is placed on understanding the commonalities that apply across the field, as well as the particular evidence base for ECT and its use in disorders or as a research tool. Participants will leave with a certification, provided they have passed a written examination and hands-on skill demonstration. Students will leave with a full understanding of where the field is now, as well as likely new advances that will emerge over the next few years, and how to integrate the new advances into their full understanding of brain stimulation physics and science.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Review and apply knowledge of past and current brain stimulation research in order to provide optimal care.
  2. Describe the full range of current methods of brain stimulation and how they differ in their approach to stimulating the brain.
  3. Discuss the ECT literature, the latest brain stimulation techniques, the appropriate clinical uses and guidelines, and how to apply these to patient care.
  4. Demonstrate hands on practice in treatment device setup, seizure threshold determination, and dosing protocols.
  5. Identify current safety guidelines and be able to respond to a patient crisis during ECT.
  6. Be able to select appropriate patients who meet treatment criteria and are good candidates for treatment.

A refund will be made upon written request prior to one month prior to the start of the conference less a $100 cancellation fee. After this date, no refunds will be made. we reserve the right to cancel the program if necessary. Full registration fees will be refunded for cancelled programs.
